"Victor Goikoetxea's proposal is essentially a continuous challenge that transcends the known techniques and the scale of the work itself. His formal exploration draws from the sources of biomimicry of nature, through folds, twists and undulations that recreate illusory and dreamlike environments. The transformation of matter becomes an obsession, until it is mastered in impossible ways and becomes something more spatial in large-format works, hybridizing art and technology to achieve innovative textures and finishes.
The material works of Victor Goikoetxea are born from the detailed understanding of the genius loci. His regular collaborations with architects and interior designers value his work as an indissoluble part of a transforming action designed for a place. The Miramart Tunnel in the Bahía de la Concha recreates the artistic experience of an underwater world, and his abstract interventions in murals and ceilings aim to blur the limits of inhabited space.
